PPA Challenge

This week's PPA challenge sketch is a keeper! Keep this one handy for when you need a quick card and have a mind block; it comes together so easily.

I know fall is here, but flowers are wonderful in any season - aren't they? For this sketch I pulled out my All Abloom DSP paper stack. I layered it onto a piece of Pistachio Pudding and broke out an old stand by - the retired Daisy #2 die for my embellishment. I used a spot of Daffodil Delight in center of the flower to mimic the flower in the DSP and added a brad for a bit of bling. You could add a sentiment for any occasion or leave it just as is.

Quick and easy to put together with a result I would enjoy receiving in the mail! I challenge you to give this sketch a try!

Until next time, take gentle care,

A New Twist on Paper Pumpkins!

PAPER PUMPKINS

Paper Pumpkins_crbDSCN8881
I’m a big Paper Pumpkin fan—you know—Stampin’ Up!’s papercrafting fairy godmother who brings you a kit of awesomeness every month?
But if you’d like to whip up an actual paper pumpkin—here you go! This fun project is a snap to make using the Big Shot, the Circles Collection Framelits Die, and our funMotley Monsters Designer Series Paper.
Cut approximately twelve circles and make a paper pom pom (http://www.stampinup.com/home/en-US/blog-post/corporate-blog/2013/04/16/tricky-tip-tuesday-pretty-pom-poms)—but before you start gluing the circles together, cut the bottoms off to allow the paper pumpkin to stand upright.
Paper Pumpkins_crbDSCN8853
Cut a rectangular piece of scrap Kraft Cardstock to create a stem and add a tag made using the Ghoulish Greetings Stamp Set.
That’s it! Make a bunch of these to decorate your house for Halloween—or give them away as gifts!

New twist on DSP for the PPA Challenge

Greetings all!

The weather here is Wisconsin is screaming fall. I actually broke down yesterday and turned on the furnace as is was approaching mid to low 60s - in the house!! Ready or not, here it comes!

I did lunch and a movie with a friend yesterday. We saw "The 100 Foot Journey". It is about a restaurant owning Indian family. I have a good friend who is from India whose cooking is divine. I left the theater craving some of my favorites that she prepares. She's coming to my envelope punch board class this Thursday and knowing her kind, generous, caring spirit, she'll bring treats - yum! I'd recommend the movie and dinner afterwards at a local Indian restaurant!

Back to stamping. With fall, which is my favorite season, comes the beautiful, rich colors of the harvest, the autumn leaves and this week's PPA challenge. Just realized, curry is a spice used in many Indian dishes - this was destiny!

As I looked at this palette, I thought about my DSP stash - hmm, nothing that speaks to this color combo. I wanted something a bit different than just stamping my own DSP. My eyes kept going to the Back to Black DSP, hmmm and BINGO!

Using the 'dot' stamp from the Kinda Eclectic set, I stamped a piece of Back to Black DSP with Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Always Artichoke. I had to go back with the colors twice because I was seeing too much white for my liking. The sentiment is from Merry Everything stamped with a graduated trio of colors Note Tag punch and then cropped with the coordinating punch, then layered on top of the Decorative Label punch and popped up on dimensionals.

I used a bit of retired Always Artichoke seam binding ribbon to complete the look.

Hope you enjoyed the tip on another way to use your Back to Black DSP.

Until next time, take gentle care,

Pal's Blog Hop - Holiday Catalog

Welcome to the September Pals Blog Hop.

This month we are showing off our favorite new products from the new Stampin' Up! Holiday Catalog. We hope you enjoy our projects!

You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from stop #3 Susan Lankford at Stamp and Create With Susan  on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog so you see all of the amazing creations.

The 2014 Holiday catalog is so packed full of amazing products and ideas, it was hard to choose just one, so I went with a 3D theme to showcase a number of new products.

Frightfully good treats

The Under the Tree Specialty DSP isn't just for under the tree! The heavy duty paper will hold lots of yummy Halloween treats in this sturdy star bag. The Merry Everything bundle includes images for each upcoming holiday and the coordinating punch to make your holiday treat packages come together quickly.

Are the stars out tonight?

This beautiful heat embossed star box was stamped using
the Bright and Beautiful stamp set. It was perfectly trimmed with
the Stars Framelits. This would be a perfect decoration on any
holiday mantle. The project is finished with Brushed Gold CS
and Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon. Click here to view a video tutorial by Stampin' Up!

A Tower of DSP!

One of the darlings of the holiday catalog and a perfect match for the Under the Tree DSP is the Gift Box Punch Board. The board makes 15 different sized boxes to fill with gifts, treats or pile them high, as I have done and wrap them with the sensational Cherry Cobbler 1" Sheer Ribbon for use in your home decor.

I hope my projects inspire you to break out your sticky strip
and start creating in 3D. 'Tis the season!

The next stop is #5 Becky Gifford at The Social Stamper  on the Pals Blog Hop! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.
