Welcome to the May Pals Blog Hop. This is the first hop on our new day - the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Before we celebrate the release of the new Stampin' Up! catalog next month, we want to take time to say goodbye to our favorite retiring products. This month we are showcasing projects that feature stamps or accessories that are retiring along with the 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog on June 4th.
You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from stop #5 Nancy Gleason at My Stampin Space
on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog.
It was difficult to choose one retiring item for this blog hop; there are a couple that have been 'go to' favorites, but I finally decided on the Little Leaves Sizzlits. Floral stamps are one of my favorites, so this little guy has become my best accent and will be sorely missed.
Although I said I love floral stamps, I found a way to use some scraps and my Beautiful Wings Embosslits to accompany my Little Leaves Sizzlits. I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add a bit of accent to Whisper White layer and also used Whisper White for the base. This card was inspired by Scrappin and Stampin in GJ.
I don't often make cards with no layering. I love the look when someone else does them, but they often look naked to me. If you read one of my recent posts, you'll have learned that I've been a bit of a DSP hoarder. I'm really trying to face this issue head on and use every last scrap! In this card I was able to use bits of DSP in coordinating colors along with my Boho Blossoms punch. My buddy, the Little Leaves Sizzlit provided the vine for my blooming flowers. I popped the blossoms onto the Crumb Cake base using Dimensionals and rounded the bottom corners of the CS. I really like the look of this card; it was cased from Karen Menghini.
My last example using the Little Leaves Sizzlits is the card in a box I made for Mother's Day. My mom left my house on Sunday with this card tucked into her purse to share with her Monday morning church gang. This is the card we made in my April class; I'm sure it was a big hit with all the moms who received it.
So goodbye Little Leaves Sizzlit; you have served me well! To purchase this or any other retiring items, shop my online store.
The next stop is stop #7 Susan Itell at Simple Stampin on the Pals Blog Hop! I know she'll have something wonderfully creative for you! Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you next month.
