PPA Challenge

I am having fun playing with these challenges. I think it means I'm becoming more comfortable with creating versus copying. This week's challenge is another sketch. I wrapped a birthday gift in black and white paper and needed a card to match. Why not multi-task and use a sketch layout for the card! Here is the sketch:

Blendabilities

Stampin' Up! has created it's own line of alcohol markers called Blendabilities. The markers come in color sets of three, a dark, medium and light. As a demonstrator, I was able to order from a limited number of colors and recently had time to play with them.

I used the Blended Bloom stamp set that will be available in the new catalog on June 2nd. It's the perfect stamp to use with the Daffodil Delight and Old Olive Blendability pens. I have some work to do to perfect this technique, but not bad for a first try. Due to the expected demand for the Blendability pens, they will not be available to you until later in the summer. SU! wants to be sure the demand for this great product can be met. I'll keep you posted on when you can purchase your own Blendabilities! If you simply MUST get these markers into your hands, you can do so by becoming an independent Stampin' Up! demonstrator. Contact me for more details.

There is still time to shop the retired items before they are gone for good! Click here to check them out.

Be sure to stop back tomorrow to check out this week's PPA challenge.

Until next time, take gentle care,

Pal's Challenge

It's been a busy week and I'm sure many of you can relate to that!

A couple weeks ago, my nephew's fiance asked me to make cards for her future bridesmaids. The wedding theme is burlap and lace. Thankfully, I found a scrapbook store about an hour from my home and they had exactly what I needed. I shipped the finished product today. Here's a peek:

And, here's the inside:

She will add a photo of herself and her girlfriend in the bottom center square. The middle square holds a 3x3x2 gift box. The photos aren't the best, but I was on a mission to get the Pack and Ship before they closed today. Whew!!

So, now that the "work" is finished, it is play time and I figured I could play with the Pals today. Here is challenge #204:
And here is what I came up with:

I pulled out some ancient DSP - remember, I'm trying to use it so I can order from the new catalog! The stamps are a hostess selection from the new catalog.I love my flowers! I used my blender pen for coloring AND used one of the Old Olive Blendability pens to color the pearls I used on the sentiment. I supply cards to a local gift shop and they asked for more sympathy cards so that's where this one is headed.

Thanks for stopping in. Be sure to check in next week for PPA challenge #205!

Take gentle care,

Pal's Blog Hop - Out With The Old!

Welcome to the May Pals Blog Hop. This is the first hop on our new day - the 2nd Wednesday of the month. Before we celebrate the release of the new Stampin' Up! catalog next month, we want to take time to say goodbye to our favorite retiring products. This month we are showcasing projects that feature stamps or accessories that are retiring along with the 2013-14 Idea Book & Catalog on June 4th.
You may just be starting the blog hop or may have come from stop #5 Nancy Gleason at My Stampin Space
on the Pals Hop. If you get off track at any time, the full lineup below will help you move along from blog to blog.
It was difficult to choose one retiring item for this blog hop; there are a couple that have been 'go to' favorites, but I finally decided on the Little Leaves Sizzlits.  Floral stamps are one of my favorites, so this little guy has become my best accent and will be sorely missed.

Although I said I love floral stamps, I found a way to use some scraps and my Beautiful Wings Embosslits to accompany my Little Leaves Sizzlits. I used my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to add a bit of accent to Whisper White layer and also used Whisper White for the base. This card was inspired by Scrappin and Stampin in GJ.

I don't often make cards with no layering. I love the look when someone else does them, but they often look naked to me. If you read one of my recent posts, you'll have learned that I've been a bit of a DSP hoarder. I'm really trying to face this issue head on and use every last scrap! In this card I was able to use bits of DSP in coordinating colors along with my Boho Blossoms punch. My buddy, the Little Leaves Sizzlit provided the vine for my blooming flowers. I popped the blossoms onto the Crumb Cake base using Dimensionals and rounded the bottom corners of the CS. I really like the look of this card; it was cased from Karen Menghini.

My last example using the Little Leaves Sizzlits is the card in a box I made for Mother's Day. My mom left my house on Sunday with this card tucked into her purse to share with her Monday morning church gang. This is the card we made in my April class; I'm sure it was a big hit with all the moms who received it.

So goodbye Little Leaves Sizzlit; you have served me well! To purchase this or any other retiring items, shop my online store.

The next stop is  stop #7 Susan Itell at Simple Stampin on the Pals Blog Hop! I know she'll have something wonderfully creative for you! Thanks for visiting and  I hope to see you next month.

Take gentle care,

May Class

Be there!

Where: Sue's home
              5625 Hilldale Drive, Slinger
Cost: $10
RSVP:  RnRStamping@gmail.com

Whether it's Father's Day, a birthday or just thinking of you, masculine cards can be a challenge. We'll be using the direct to paper technique for this seascape. You will be amazed at how fun and easy this card is to create. I guarantee you will use this technique again in the future!

As you know, the current catalog retires on June 1st and the new catalog will be open for business on June 2nd! Our last project uses a brand new stamp set, Work of Art. The possibilities with this set are endless!

PPA Challenge and True Confessions

This week's PPA challenge is a color challenge. I have a bit easier time with these than the layout challenge, but they're all fun to play with.

Okay, you're likely wondering about the 'true confessions'. I have to confess that I am was a DSP hoarder. I'm working on using all of my old DSP - it's going to take me awhile. That being said, I don't have DSP that works with this color scheme, so I made my own! No matter the color of your card stock, you can ALWAYS have coordinating DSP when you use Stampin' Up! products and a bit of creative stamping.

For this card, I used a crumb cake CS base and layers of  Read Red and because I don't have Bermuda Bay in my inventory, I used Tempting Turquoise (another confession!). Using the Stippled Blossoms stamp set, I created this beautiful DSP, topped it with crocheted ribbon and a sentiment using the large oval, scalloped oval and modern label punches. A few pearls finished off the project - fun card with a vintage look.

To order any of the products used to make this card or to purchase any of the soon to be retiring SU! items, click here to shop my online store.

Following your shopping spree, have some fun and join the PPA challenge!
